Yamahas goal for the Clavinova Digital Piano is to recreate the sound of a grand piano as closely as possible. One way Yamaha does this is by the length of the samples. When you play a grand piano, the time from the beginning of a sound until it gradually fades and ends is extremely long, and this helps to create its deep, rich sound. The Yamaha Clavinova Digital Piano achieve the same type of beautiful, lingering tones by using extra-long sound samples — samples recorded until just before the sound fully disappears.

The action of a grand piano is created by skillfully combining more then 80 parts for each key which requires scrupulous adjustments at every stage. Yamahas extensive expertise in building these actions enables craftsmen to make a Clavinova as pleasant to play as a grand piano while providing the same expressive power.

Another feature of Clavinova are the color variations, which can be selected according to your decor or individual preference. The Clavinovas deep lustrous finish with rich textures are the same process as used on Yamaha grand pianos.
