Yamahas goal for the Clavinova is to recreate the sound of a grand piano as closely as possible. One way we do this is by the length of the samples. When you play a grand piano, the time from the beginning of a sound until it gradually fades and ends is extremely long, and this helps to create its deep, rich sound. The Yamaha Clavinova achieve the same type of beautiful, lingering tones by using extra-long sound samples — samples recorded until just before the sound fully disappears.
